Love Makes a Family: Portraits of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender People and their Families
Just yesterday I wrote about help for parents with gender variant kids. Well, my timing couldn’t be better as First Presbyterian Church of Waltham is opening an exhibit called, “Love Makes a Family: Portraits of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender People and their Families“
The exhibit is a touring photo and text display created by the Family Diversity Project, right here in Amherst, MA. The projects goal is to:
By educating people of all ages to recognize, support, and celebrate the full range of diversity, our traveling exhibits are designed to help reduce prejudice, stereotyping, and harassment of all people who are perceived to be “different” from the “norm.”
See, now that’s a great objective. Families do come in all ranges and size and flavors. I never expected my family to be like that but, sure enough it is. And, despite our issues, (what family doesn’t have those?) we are still a family, one who’s portrait would fit right into this display.
The opening is Saturday, March 5th, 7PM at First Presbyterian Church, Waltham, MA.
