Update from Cairo: A Woman's Personal Perspective

I saw this post highlighted and couldn’t help but share it.    It’s about a young woman’s perspective on being in the center of the marches in Cairo right now.   It’s very exciting to read and somewhat heart breaking.   Exciting to hear that peaceful demonstrations are being allowed to proceed, peacefully.  That those marching are in fact marching peacefully.  And the heart breaking fact of the U.S. not being vocal in support of what is happening there.   Here’s the link: Update  From Cairo: March of a  Million.

Thanks for the shout-out Beck’s cafe! Glad you liked. I’ve attached two others that may resonate with you – especially as I see you’re a mom as well. Thanks for reading.

You are so welcome Marilyn, and thank you for sharing so much of your own life on “Communicating Across Boundaries” And thank you so much for pointing out the two articles, “Chaos in Cairo and a Mother’s Heart” and “The Holy Gift of Humor The Healing Gift of Talk”

In “Chaos” I could feel your intense worry and rightfully so. My two daughters have been on missions trips to South America, which is nothing like Annie in Egypt, still, when we didn’t hear from them, we were pacing the floors. We knew they were fine, the countries were stable. It’s so great to get that call like you did at 3:15AM, “Hi Mom and Dad, we just got cell phone service and I’m safe and sound!”

In, “The Holy Gift of Humor” I was surprised to read of their sense of humor and laughter in the midst of the deep hardship they have been encountering. I’ve travelled to many places in the World, but only to the Middle East once, so I’ve never gotten a real sense for the people there. Your article really helped me understand more about Egyptians; my prayers are with them (and with you and Annie!)

Thanks so much again for your comment and leaving your suggested readings,

      Becki
