Boston Transgender Community Party to Launch I AM: Transpeople Speak Campaign on 11/14
I think this is going to be huge and a great launch for a great cause. So, mark your calendars now! On Sunday, November 14th, from 5PM-9PM the I AM: Trans People Speak campaign will hold it’s kick off launch. What’s an I AM: Trans People Speak?
I AM: Trans People Speak is a website aimed at educating the public about the diverse communities of trans individuals. The website will consist of video, audio, photographic, and written stories from trans people. The website will also include stories from families and allies. We expect to launch the initial site in mid-November.
So why create a vehicle like this? Don’t trans people speak already? Of course they do, but, the IAM team goes on to say why they are doing this:
There is no one trans narrative. Trans peoples’ experiences are disregarded and their humanity is too often questioned by society at large. Each of these individuals has their own unique story to tell, and they can no longer be silenced. This project is centered on the full individual, for trans people are more than their gender and by providing a forum where these unique stories can be shared and given significance, I AM fosters support and raises awareness for trans communities. This campaign will be the first of its kind in the country.
