9-11 Remembrance, Tears and Resolve
I’ve written before about 9-11, first in a post I did back in 2006 “9-11 Stories and Pictures” and “Beck’s Cafe Honors the Victims and Heroes of 9-11“ But it needs to be said again that, like Pearl Harbor (The National Geographic has an excellent, and low bandwidth, multimedia presentation on at their site here: Remembering Pearl Harbor).
While the U.S. may be the world’s superpower, the fact of the matter is, creative approaches by enemies of the U.S. will always be a threat. Whether an attack like Pearl Harbor (which was a military attack on a military target) or a an attack like 9-11 (which was a military attack on a civilian target). I don’t think that means the U.S. needs to be a military citidel but it does mean we have to be aware and ready. I’m not sure the doctrine of Pre-Emptive War is really all that great an idea either on this topic, but being vigilent is.
And for sure remembering what happened in history to take lessons for our future is certainly wise.
For more on 9-11, here’s some great links:
First, the 9-11 Digital Archives, who are effectively curating that day, which happened in NY, PA, and in Arlington, VA at our Pentagon.
Another site worth visiting is the Arlington, VA Public Library site “Arlington Remembers” which does a great job of documenting the 9-11 attack on our Pentagon.
Finally, we must remember the heroic work of passengers who sacrificially gave their lives to down Flight 93 in Somerset County PA.

You’re right, Becki – vigilance and shoring up our military defense should be the top priority. We should stop throwing money to wars we can’t win. Violence only begets more violence.
May God Bless our Troops. Let’s pray and work for peace on Earth. We are all God’s creatures…Love is the answer.
