Fenway Women's Dinner Saturday, March 13 – Best of Luck to the Team!

Sadly I won’t be going to the Fenway Health Women’s Dinner this year due to some obligations here at Beck’s Cafe.  BUT, if you can go you should.  It’s a great night. The food is wonderful, everyone is shiney gorgeous, and Kate Clinton is hilarious.   You can get tickets until about 12PM today, Friday March 12th,  by calling Fenway Health at 617-927-6350

The event raises money for health programs that Fenway Health offers to the community.  About 1200 lesbian, bi, and transgender women with their supporters and allies will be there to celebrate women’s health and raise money to implement it through Fenway Health.  It’s a fun time and for a great cause.  Mayor Menino and Governor Patrick are generally there as well so you can bet it’ll be swarming with lots of bling and fun. This year Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin will receive the Dr. Susan M. Love Award

So, while I can’t be there I’m raising a big, steaming mug of coffee to say Best of Luck to you June, Deb and Molly for this year’s event!!

Too bad you couldn’t make it, Becki. It was a reallY nice event. June and the other organizers put a ton of work into making everything just great.

I learned a lot about Fenway. They seem to be an impressive organization. There’s clearly a ton of support from the community for the important work they are doing. In addition to the auctions, they tried to raise $50k in a quick flurry before dinner!

      Hey Michelle!

I’m so glad you enjoyed the Fenway Women’s Dinner! I think monetarily supporting Fenway is a good use of our scarce funds. Fenway has been improving their support for transgender people. They’ve always offered medical and psychological support, but, it was perceived to be somewhat disorganized and lacking discipline in how they implemented it. My understanding from speaking with some trans-folks who use their medical services now is that Fenway has taken and tightened up how they deliver them. They have a sliding scale and they take insurance. The overall result sounds improved over how they have been providing their services in the past and really worth considering.
