Stonewall Transgender Heroes Honored ~ How many on this list do you know personally?

2009 marks the 40th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York.  I know; 2009 is almost over.

Ahh yes, indeed, Father Time is soon to close the books on 2009 however, the facts remain that this is still 2009 and our readers might like to know about our transgender heroes; many of whom are actually from the Boston area.

First, many of our coffee clutching readers might need to remind themselves of or learn for the first time, what Stonewall was.   Its not mainstream history so you might not actually know, so, jog on over to Wikipedia and read on The Stonewall Riots.

Now, onto Stonewall Trans-Heroes 40.  This list is sponsored by The Imperial Court System and by The Task Force.   Readers, when you go through this list you’ll likely know some of these men and women personally.   Next time you see them say, “congratulations” and “thanks” for all they are doing with each of us to make all our lives just a little bit better.

    Hi Hon:
Nice article, to bad they are paying tribute to so many who had nothing to do with Stonewall … Like so many other things in our lives name recognition is a key to connectability.
I just think the use of Stonewall for any reason other then paying respect to those individuals from 1969 in that little bar in New York is a travisty.
I think it would be more appropriate to have an Honor Roll of those people who were actually there, they were truly our hero’s and what made it possible for all of us to open all those closet doors.
    Love ~~~ Nikki

I couldn’t be more in disagreement with you on this one Nikki. The article doesn’t exploit Stonewall it celebrates what Stonewall kicked off and those in the article are actually continuing. I’m sad you didn’t see that Nikki.

One thing I do think the story lacked was a link to Stonewall itself, we’ve tried to create that more complete context by noting the link to the Wikipedia Article, “Stonewall Riots” in our post.

Thanks for your comment though; respectful, alternative viewpoints are always welcome.

      Merry Christmas :)

    Hieee Hon:
The pleasure of knowing you is that we are both open to each others opinions and I always respect your discourse and rebuttles.
Not sure if you ever saw the movie Stonewall … it was on PBS … I do not know why they did not put it out this year … what a great idea to have for either a tiffany meeting or even more as an entertainment segment of FE 2011 … I am sure that would definately be a sell out …
We must know somebody over a GBH, I’ll have to dig through my phone books and card index …
    Merry Christmas ~~~ Nikki

You are so right hon :)

I have never seen the movie Stonewall but that’s a great idea on having a special showing locally here in Boston and I think having it sometime during the year would be nice. Actually, Beck’s Cafe might just grind a few extra pounds of coffee for that one and sponsor it ourselves :)

      Merry Christmas :)
