But I think I have a tendency to overanalyze it, subconsciously trying to figure out if I hug because the “giving” aspect of it -to someone else’s benefit- is important to me, or if it’s more of a somewhat more selfish “taking” -to my own benefit- whether the huggee likes it or not. And I guess that overthinking keeps me from doing it more often than it should, because once I’m done considering, that split-second moment has passed by already, and missing a chance due to such needless hesitation is just such a shame. Hugging is best when done spontaneously.
