Hi Paul,

Thank you for your comment :) I think your point about the average person being ahead of the curve on acceptance of transgender people is spot on. Perhaps our politicians would do well to just listen to those who vote for them.

I find it sad when politicians play games with people's lives
or just refuse to do what is right. Barney Frank should know better. It's fortunate that we need laws to protect transgenders from a vocal minority but it needs to be done.
I am convinced most people are way ahead of the curve on this issue and accept transgenders. What a world it would be if we all accepted each other for who we are.

For, gee, nigh on 17 years, I've considered myself part of the "religious right", but only so far as general issues went. I don't see myself as "liberal", though my understanding of Jesus' teachings are very close to what you've said here-- that Jesus spoke against those who took an attitude against others based on their faith, that Jesus spoke to console those who needed to hear His word...

This is an interesting article, and I look forward to reading more from Dr. Nemecek.

Hi Julie!

Thank you for leaving a comment. Your very welcome for the link-back Julie.

In doing some research on the Pharisees of Jesus day I was poking into The Jewish Encyclopedia. Their commentary was fascinating given, according to the article I read, that historically the Sadducees were even more conservative than the Pharisees. Still it appears that what made the Pharisees shine was their hypocritical actions vs their beliefs. Seven classes of Pharisees were identified in Jesus' time, of which five consist of either eccentric fools or hypocrites (those are the words from Jewish historical literature, not mine).

The link to the article on the Pharisees in The Jewish Encylopedia is here:
