(We’re leaving this post up as our top post for a bit as we follow this)
Tenessa Thomas, age 13 of Auburn, Maine went missing on Thursday, 3/22/07 around 7am. She took none of her things for school, no jackets, and all of the doors and windows have been locked with no sign of any entry. Basically, the parents have no idea about anything what so ever. If ANYONE has ANY information about her where abouts or even nows someone who knows something PLEASE call (3/23/07: phone numbers deleted as Tenessa was found).
I got this message from an acquaintence via email. We’ve emailed back asking that the parents contact the Maine police to kick off the nationwide Amber Alert System for this little girl. We’ll post updates here to this post to keep everyone informed as this very serious issue develops.

Me
If this supposedly happened on 3/22/07
How is is possible that someone posted a comment on this myspace page on 3/21 stating that 3/20 is when this actually happened.

I believe you have been duped by an internet hoax, one of many that go around every day.

I actually thought that I had been duped by a hoax as well, that’s why I figured I’d just call them on the phone numbers I was given. So, the woman I spoke with said she was the sister of Tenessa’s mother, her Aunt. She said that Tenessa had been found and was okay. I had the phone nummbers posted here but I took them down when I was told she was no longer missing.
And yes, I did see that posting at Family Watchdog too. That puzzled me that’s for sure. Perhaps the email I got was simply after it was seen at Family Watchdog? Who knows. I’ll have to whip up another cappucinno to think this one through.

I searched all over for some evidence to authenticate this when I got it as a myspace bulletin. I guess it still confounds me that a search of either Yahoo or Google nets nothing relevant that isn’t on a blog or myspace… Glad Tenessa was found

Hi Tom, I know exactly what you mean. When I got the email I was like, “gosh of course I’ll spread the word”, then after I had posted on Beck’s Cafe about it I started wondering, did an Amber Alert go out? If not, why not, that should go out like immediately I thought. So I emailed the person who sent me the notice and suggested perhaps the parents should call 911.
Then, I did like you, scoured the web for any news, any shred of corroborating evidence. And like you I found the MySpace notice, Beck’s Cafe and then a couple of others. I was puzzled on that one for a while. Till finally I just couldn’t stand it, thinking this girl was abducted. So I figured the number was posted, why not call? That’s when I talked to the woman who is a relative of Tenessa’s and she said she was okay and had been found.
Tom, I think you and all of us did the right thing. Hoax or not, the blogosphere, MySpacers, etc, all responding as best they could is a good sign that people still care! That’s a big plus in my book!
So thanks for caring
