Start your week with a giggle

It’s Monday…I forgot my badge to get into work, I almost ran out of gas, I spilled a cup of coffee on my lap…time for a laugh break (enjoy it…I did)

Three couples--one elderly, one middle-aged and one newlywed--wanted
to join a church. The priest said, "We have special requirements for
new parishioners. You must abstain from having sex for two weeks." The
couples all agreed and came back at the end of two weeks.

The pastor went to the elderly couple and asked, "Were you able to
abstain from sex for the two weeks?"

The old man replied, "No problem at all, Father."

"Congratulations! Welcome to the church!" said the priest.

The priest went to the middle-aged couple and asked, "Well, were you
able to abstain from sex for the two weeks?"

The middle-aged man replied, "The first week was not too bad. The
second week I had to sleep on the couch for a couple of nights, but,
yep, we made it."

"Congratulations! Welcome to the church," said the priest.

The priest then went to the newlywed couple and asked, "Well, were you
able to abstain from sex for two weeks?"

"No Pastor, we were not able to go without sex for the two weeks," the
young man replied sadly.

"What happened?" inquired the priest.

"My wife was reaching for a can of corn on the top shelf and dropped
it," said the young man. "When she bent over to pick it up, I was
overcome with lust and took advantage of her right there."

"You understand, of course, this means you will not be welcome in our
church," stated the priest.

"We know," said the young man. "We're not welcome at the supermarket
anymore either."

Braingle – Tease Your Brain

Brain_1 If it’s Friday, my brain must be like mush. So, whilst perusing my
in-box, dull eyed fish look in my eyes, I see an email from my friend
Carrie (“Becki you have friends??” – uh, yeah). Turns out she sent
along a little web-love to me in the form of some very fun brain
teasers and puzzles! Not that I actually have the mental acumen to
actually DO them on a Friday, but surprise, surprise, they were fun and
a nice way to just zone out.

You can check them out here at Braingle

Small Company/Big Lessons

I had a chance this week to spend time with some amazingly smart people at this amazingly little company that specializes in telecommunications equipment.  There aren’t more than 50 people in this company tops.  Any of the engineers could stand in their own sted at any company, but they chose to work here at a small firm (that has been that way for 6 years). A further conversation with the CEO dredged up how financially efficient this little place was.  I came away impressed, if not a little envious as to where they worked.

As I was doing my nails that night, I started thinking through some of the lessons from my visit, and how they might apply to any small company – or even small non-profit organization that has a big vision to help or change a sector of our society.

What are some of the Lessons Learned?

Gay rights bill passes in Washington State

Over at Scobelizer, there is a terrific, peaceful, comment debate on the Gay Rights bill in Washington State.  The bill passed (see link here) but the debate on the comments section is both respectful and thought provoking, regardless of which side you are on.

Have a lookie at the link and the debate by clicking here.
